"Having produced many different varieties of music, I have discovered that there are many different techniques associated with producing different styles of music. Although many of the same principles apply all throughout music production, there are certain things that will work on one style, that just won't in another.
One of the more predominant focuses, in dubstep specifically, is synthesis; it has been my primary focus since the beginning to create an original sound for each track. It's easy to replicate a sound that someone else has made, but most amazing sounds are the ones that you accidentally create while messing around in a synthesizer. I have made sounds that sound like a washing machine, to things that sound like some alien creature. It always starts with the same sound, a little sine wave that goes "beeeeeep". Sampling is a huge part of music as well, so in my tracks I always like to use a good mix of my own synthesized material, as well as some quality samples that compliment what I'm working on.
Just always remember that inspiration is key, try replicating a sound that you like, and you will find that you end up creating something absolutely incredible; that isn't quite the original sound, but far better in your opinion. Don't be afraid to try new things, stay diverse, and keep learning. The only thing that will make you better is your desire to do more!" SpaceJail
