Now that the Summer season has officially arrived and the temperatures are heating up outside, so is the dance floor at Electronic Tuesdays. Each and every week Sub.mission never fails to present us with top-notch bass music talent from both a local, nationwide, and international scale. This past Tuesday night was no exception as we welcomed back London’s very own Flava D along with sets from Sub.mission resident DJ, Subliminal and GBP closing out the night. From beginning to end, the entire night was stacked with talent and dance floor was overflowing with energy. Whether you joined us on the dance floor live in the flesh, or you weren’t able to make it out, this week’s edition of The Rewind is here to give you a feel for how the night went! Check it out!
With massive anticipation going into the night, I made sure to make my way on the dance floor early in the night so that I didn’t miss a beat. After attending Electronic Tuesdays on a weekly basis over the last couple years, I’ve made sure to put in effort to coming out early so that I catch all the DJ’s performing in the DJ battles at the beginning of the night so that I can get a taste of some of the upcoming talent that is emerging onto the scene in Colorado. Each week the battles are comprised of a variety of genres and sounds and it’s always a refreshing experience to see new faces grace the stage week after week and show us what they’re made of. This week, selectors Rettchit, Counterfeit Rainbow, & Mindphunx battled it out in this week’s DJ battles and made the most out of their 30 minute time slots to make a lasting impact on the early Electronic Tuesdays crowd. This week’s battles were comprised of heavier/aggressive dubstep, deeper 140, Drum & Bass, Liquid, & more. Each act put on amazing sets and this was undoubtedly one of the closets battles that I have witnessed so far! After a heated battle among the selectors, Counterfeit Rainbow, comprised of duo ‘Vicix & Djeww’ snatched the win to be crowned this week’s battle winner. Be sure to catch this deadly duo performing in the June Winners Showcase battles taking place next month on July 5 at Electronic Tuesdays!
Following the opening DJ Battles, it was now time for Sub.mission resident Subliminal to take the decks and kick things up a notch. Widely known for his diverse track selection and triple-deck mixing abilities, Subliminal is an artist that appeals to any audience and really knows how to get the crowd moving. If you’ve seen Subliminal perform recently, you’ve definitely noticed a lot more UK Grime being incorporated into his sets and Tuesday night was a fine demonstration of this. He began his set with some raw, uncut Grime tunes and had a good balance of that minimal dubstep that we all know and love from Subliminal. Every time you see Subliminal perform, he brings something new and exciting to the table and no 2 sets are ever the same. His vast experience as a DJ proves how skilled he is behind the decks and to see him perform live is always a special treat. Whenever you see the name ‘Sublminal’ on a lineup, buckle up tight and get ready for the ride!

The dance floor was packed, the vibe was thick, and it was now time for the highly anticipated Denver return of Flava D, live and direct! Hailing all the way from London, Flava D is one of the fastest rising talents to emerge onto the bass music circuit and her infectious, upbeat sound catches the ears of listeners worldwide! Recognized as one of the core members of the Butterz Crew, Flava D’s sound is iconic, sexy, and packs plenty of bounce. Having seen Flava D perform at Electronic Tuesdays when Sub.mission brought her out last August, I already knew that she was going to be packing heat and I surely wasn’t disappointed. Her confident stage presence, flawless mixing abilities, and her wide ranging track selection combined to make her performance a very enjoyable one with plenty of twists and turns. Blending a series of her own signature tunes like ‘In The Dance’, ‘Feed ‘Em To The Lions’ along with dance floor bangers ‘Harder’ by Breakage and The Newham Generals, & ‘JME’s ‘Man Don’t Care’, Flava D’s set was not exclusive to a single genre or BPM and catered to the entire audience. Throughout the entire venue, hands were high in the air, feet were moving, and there wasn’t a stagnant body in sight. Her set was a perfect combination of Bassline House, Garage, & Grime and she surely made a lasting impact in her Denver return!

As if the night wasn’t already loaded with enough talent, it was now time for the one like GBP to take the stage and close the night out with a bang! Having won both of his previous battles at Electronic Tuesdays in previous months and being crowned the battle champion of January, GBP made his return on Tuesday night to remind us what he’s all about! Following up a headlining performance from Flava D and keeping the crowd engaged may seem like a daunting task or the average DJ. However, on Tuesday night Alex Hamilton, better known as GBP stepped up to the decks and erupted the crowd with energy until the very end. When I first saw GBP coming up and performing in the battles a few years ago, he made an impact with his hard-hitting, wonky, bouncy approach to dubstep, all of which I was a big fan of. Fast-forward to now, GBP’s sound has rapidly evolved and covers multiple spectrums of this sound we call ‘Dubstep.’ On Tuesday night he began his set with a more upbeat and energetic approach to keep the audience hooked and grab their attention from the beginning, all the way to the very end. Among the massive arsenal of tunes that GBP rinsed out, some of my personal favorites were Le Lion’s Timewarp VIP, J:Kenzo’s Ruffhouse, Bukez Finezt’s ‘Under Control’ , Amit’s ‘Acid Trip’ and Dubamine’s ‘Buddha Puff’. This track listing alone demonstrates how well rounded and diverse GBP’s set was on Tuesday night and I couldn’t picture a better talent to close out the night for Flava D! If you left early and weren’t among the intimate crowd that GBP performed for to finish out the night, you definitely missed out!
Big ups to everyone that made it out to this week’s Electronic Tuesdays throwdown and took part in such a massive night in sound! See you all next week for RDG, K Man, Dalek One & more!
