‘Pleasure’ (Noun) – a Feeling of Happiness, Enjoyment, or Satisfaction. A state of gratification. While the dictionary defines this word with such a straightforward approach, the dichotomy of Sean McCarthy, better known as ‘Pleasure’ is far more complex than meet’s the eye. Pleasure is a multi-faceted DJ/Producer that has been making some serious waves with his adrenaline fueled live performances and experimental soundscape that truly aim to please. Recognized as an artist that isn’t confined to a single genre or style, he repeatedly proves himself to be a versatile talent whether he’s in the lab, or behind the decks. When it comes to the emerging hybrid, weird, ‘future’ bass music that’s grown in popularity over the years, Pleasure has been at the forefront of the movement for quite some time now. Some of his tunes portray a euphoric and melodic approach that you relax and nod your head to, while others make you want to rush to the dance floor and rage mindlessly. Regardless of your personal preferences when it comes to bass music, Pleasure’s style caters to nearly every spectrum of enthusiasts, and when he’s live in the mix, you can assure yourself that it’s going to be a party!
With groundbreaking releases on major labels such as SaturateRecords, Sleeveless Records, Seclusiasis, & ShadowtrixMusic under his belt, Pleasure has proven to be one of the most innovative and original producers to emerge and he shows no sign of slowing down. His latest album ‘Reset’ which was released on SaturateRecords earlier this year demonstrates his next-level abilities to exceed musical boundaries and develop a well rounded compilation of mind bending sounds that will get your feet moving, and your booty shaking! When I first discovered the sounds of Pleasure, his upbeat style was something like a fusion of the ‘get-low’ feel of G Jones crossed with the industrial style of Eprom, yet his style is uniquely his own and cannot be emulated. Rapidly gaining momentum with his forward-thinking and eccentric sound, Pleasure’s tunes have been rinsed out on major platforms throughout the globe, including a recent feature on Noisia’s radio show in which is collaboration with Jimmy Pé, titled ‘Something Like This’ shook the airwaves. His synths are crispy, his bass is heavy, and he’s here to give you the pleasure you’ve been seeking.
This year, Pleasure’s ‘Reset Tour’ has been taking the United States by storm and annihilating cities throughout country at an impressive catalogue of festivals and club nights alike and on Tuesday night we’ll get to experience this madness live and direct at Electronic Tuesdays presented by Sub.mission.
