Bloodline
(DJ Hatcha x DJ Youngsta)
The Sub.Mission agency is pleased to introduce the newest addition to its already impressive army of artists: the mighty dubstep duo known as Bloodline. As the moniker to the side project of two of dubstep’s pioneering figures, Youngsta and Hatcha, Bloodline consolidates the strengths of two of the genre’s trailblazers into one impossibly fresh supergroup fit for the caliber of the current state of the sound. Although Youngsta and Hatcha need no introduction, we’d like to highlight just how big of an impact that both of these artists have had not only on the molding and shaping of the genre from its initial inception, but their currently felt influences on the mature and multifaceted state of today’s dubstep sound. As Sub.Mission welcomes Bloodline as an exceptional addition to the agency, we can’t help but look forward to the impossibly bright future that’s to come when the biggest dubstep powerhouse in America joins forces with two of the biggest names in the global dubstep scene.
As one of the pivotal figureheads of dubstep since the very beginning, Youngsta’s career spans as far back as the scene-defining club night FWD>> as the resident DJ who first played some of the genre's most beloved and historic anthems. He continued to play a hugely active role in dubstep's development with his frequent appearances on Rinse FM; helping to expose talented new artists. Youngsta also stands as a highly decorated producer in the scene as well, with releases on Tempa, Osiris and Wheel & Deal as well as owning his own imprint, Sentry Records; solidifying his rightful place as a figurehead for a new generation of producers.
Hatcha, who has been recognized by Mixmag as “one of the greatest DJs of all time,” can also trace his dubstep lineage back to the original FWD>> lineups alongside fellow resident, Youngsta. Throughout dubstep’s inception and Hatcha’s rise within it, he played a pivotal role it its overall development and vitality, as he graced numerous stages with his coveted bag of dubplates featuring the likes of then-budding producers Benga, Skream, Mala, Coki and Loefah. Since then, Hatcha has gone on to hold down his flagship Kiss 100 show alongside MC Crazy D, DJ across the planet, co-produce with a variety of the scene’s heavyweights and created his own imprint as well called Hatched.
Bloodline stands as the unification of these two foundational dubstep acts: Youngsta and Hatcha. It’s clear that these two artists have had a massive impact on the life and longevity of the dubstep genre since its inception, with a name that reflects their independently unbroken journeys throughout dubstep’s growth and development. Their Bloodline project boasts a joining of two of dubstep’s most revered and technically gifted DJs as well as influential producers. While they both carry different styles within their own projects, Bloodline fuses their abilities for both DJing and producing; allowing them to touch on every style and mood within the dubstep spectrum as well as reference foundational styles from the earliest dubstep years with an innovative twist fit for today’s ever-evolving scene.
