The Sub.mission agency welcomes multifaceted Danish producer Rumpistol to its ever-expanding roster of globally renowned musical talents. Wielding a music career that includes, but is not limited to, electronic music production, film score composition and live instrumentation, Rumpistol delivers everything from pure ambient, groovy midtempo, energetic techno, post-dubstep, and liquid drum'n'bass.
Deriving his name from the Danish word for “space,” “room,” and “reverb,” Rumpistol has made it his musical mission to search for all things beautiful and undiscovered. Driven by these two artistic curiosities since the release of his self-titled 2003 debut, Rumpistol has since explored many diverse fields within the electronic music landscape. His melodic and spaced-out music is often hard to categorize but easy to recognize, as his catalog spans the likes of experimental melodic glitch-hop and dubby clicks'n'cuts to the many variations of bass music, including footwork-inspired vocal tracks as well. Since 2003 he has run his own label Rump Recordings, showcasing mainly Danish electronic artists with an ever-expanding catalogue of now thirty-five releases. He has also released on the renowned Berlin-based label Project Mooncircle and Danish Iboga Records.
Rumpistol has had the privilege of showcasing his unique sound across the globe, from the US and Europe to Mexico and Brazil, including venues like Astral Valley (with Tipper & Friends), Boom Festival, Boiler Room UK and MUTEK Montreal. Apart from producing under the name Rumpistol, he also creates scores for film, theatre and contemporary dance while also playing keys and producing for the Gilles Peterson approved Danish supergroup Kalaha. His music has been used at the opening ceremony of the Paralympics in Rio 2016, and in 2017 he won a Danish Music Award Jazz for the album Masala with his band Kalaha.
