Not every new beginning means starting from scratch. On December 29th, we celebrate traditions forged by time passed before diving headfirst into the future. The final 140BPM bassweight event of 2018 features the revival of a historic Denver dubstep ritual - the return of the past year’s MVP’s - and one last Black Box debut performance to wrap up another amazing year of moving people through sound, not hype.

Sub.mission Residents: Bean B2B Caustik B2B Dillard B2B Trisicloplox
Since day one, resident DJs have formed the musical foundation of the Sub.mission movement. These selectors are more than simply producers or performers. They are educators, activists, and mentors to the young artists & fans they inspire. No headliner knows The Black Box, Basscouch, or the Denver dubstep dance floor as intimately as the local residents. On 12/29, Bean, Caustik, Dillard, and Trisicloplox unite as one to resurrect the tradition of resident tag sets started back in the day.
Individually, each of these DJs possesses a sonic personality of their own. Familiarize by following the links below.

Ternion Sound
Denver dubstep is a personal ordeal for breakout Minnesota trio Ternion Sound, and Denver already holds the Sub.mission Agency artists dear. Despite making their Black Box debut only months ago, the return of Ternion Sound ranks as one of the most anticipated performances of 2018. In the studio, the producers have been busy: this year alone, they’ve released on Silent Motion, Chestplate, Artikal Music UK, and duploc, twice - first digitally, the next forthcoming on vinyl 1/29/19. Their tracks are routine subjects for the rewind treatment by Colorado locals and international headliners alike, on any given Tuesday night. Still, bangers as they may be, the individual tunes pale in comparison the energy Ternion Sound unleashes on the decks. Their passion for the spreading the .mission is amplified for the group’s second-hometown crowd. Selections from their last set included a “Denver VIP” of CO producer Dalek One’s track “Mumble Dub,” among many exclusive treats.
Ternion Sound talked dubstep, DJ’ing, and the Sub.mission movement with LostinSound on their last visit. Check out the feature length interview below.
Dark Tantrums
Any stateside appearance from Dark Tantrums is a precious occasion. The Croydon-based badman hasn’t played in Denver since Sub.mission’s 8th birthday in 2015. Since then, the producer has racked up releases on labels including duploc, Circle Vision, New World Audio, Biscuit Factory Records, and Artikal Music UK. The laundry list of labels run by dubstep’s most respected artists & curators speaks volumes to Dark Tantrum’s place at the heart of the sound.
A prodigy of Kromestar, Dark Tantrums arrived on 140 terrain by way of drum and bass. By 2012, the producer had already earned dubstep’s greatest honor: an EP on Deep Medi. Dark Tantrums is a leader among dubstep’s lowkey dons. His Black Box debut is not to be taken lightly.
