It’s finally here people! Bass Invasion has long been one of the most anticipated dubstep events in Denver. Each year Sub.mission brings you something special and this year in no different as we return to The Fusion Factory and this time we’re bringing the BASSCOUCH system with us for a full on HALLOWEEN BLOWOUT! This year we have some of the Denver massive’s favorite dubstep players making their return and one Denver debut that we have been waiting years to bring you. We’re sure that like us, you’re bursting at the seams with anticipation for this year’s event. So whether you know or want to be in the know, sit back and get ready for this edition of Hustle Knowledge!
First up we have the return of the one like London Nebel! Hailing from Berlin, London Nebel has been shaking up the Dubstep scene since 2010.Originally comprised of DJ’s Donnie Digital & Nasty Fingers, London Nebel came into the scene swinging after a their Song 'Nasty Anthem' (released for free through JesusDied4Dubstep) and the following drum step remix by Dorincourt released, they were able to build a loyal fan base across the globe with their free EP "The End Time Pirates". However a lot has changed since then. Since this release Nasty Fingers has stepped back and now only Daniel, aka Donnie Digital, has the London Nebel helm and he has taken the momentum and rode with it full swing across the globe. With releases on Never Say Die: Black Label, Smog, Sin City, Bassclash, I.Am.Audio and Disciple; London Nebel has been putting out some serious heaters over the last few years and this year’s “Zombie Dance” is a true testament to his dedication to the pushing the envelope when I comes to the London Nebel sound and dubstep in general. If you remember when he came through for the Electronic Tuesdays’ Halloween party a few years ago you know what’s in store for us. This man shows no mercy and we can’t wait to see him flex his muscle on the Basscouch system.
Next on the line up is the one and only Thelem. If there’s any artist out there that is successfully blurring genre lines, it is most definitely Thelem. This London-based DJ and producer is well known in the dubstep scene, however to coin him as solely a dubstep producer would be a disservice to his sound. With releases on such big labels like Innamind Recordings, Black Box and Artikal Music UK, his dubstep tunes are serious testaments to sound system music however, many of his other releases are merely impossible to simply label them as anything else but bass music. His latest release, the “We Ain’t The Same” EP, showcases a fusion of classic dubstep, UK grime and even what is known in the US as “trap”. Denver heads know that anytime this man comes to town he comes at us full force. Currently he is now living in LA and is on a massive tour with The Widdler. One can only guess that the amount of music currently being cooked up Thelem is nothing but fire.
Speaking of The Widdler, this Tel Aviv born bad man has been on a serious war path over the last few years. Currently living in Austin, TX, The Widdler has been playing and producing music since the age of 10. A prominent player in the American dubstep scene since his inception, his tunes such as “Sensei Samurai”, “Froggy Style” and “Lady Dub” are regarded as classics in the spectrum of the sound. He’s been putting out some seriously awesome tunes as of late and his set at Sonic Bloom this summer set the crowd into a frenzy proving that state side dubstep is a force to be reckoned with. Currently he is in the middle of a massive tour with Thelem and as we said earlier, we can only speculate that there is some music being made between these two bass music power houses and we can only hope that we’ll see some of this on the Basscouch at Bass Invasion.
Finally, we get to the long awaited Denver Debut. Every year at Bass Invasion we have something special and this year is no different. For a few years now Denver dubsteppers have wanted ENiGMA Dubz to grace the Sub.mission stage and this year we are finally blessed with a chance to see it happen. Starting his musical journey at the young age of 5, James Vine aka ENiGMA Dubz has been pushing the sub bass sound since 2011 with releases on labels such as Dank N Dirty Dubz, LU10 Records and most recently his third album, “The Journey So far”, on Sub Concentrate. The Birmingham born producer is currently on a 6 US City tour and Bass Invasion is his 2nd stop! Denver is well known as a main hub for state side dubstep so you know he’s coming into town with a heavy arsenal of tunes that cross the spectrum of bass music and not to mention all the tunes on “The Journey So Far”, which will be released on October 27th. We are beyond excited to see what he has in store for us and to hear him take us on a musical journey on the Basscouch system. This is a Denver debut that has been a long time coming!
Bass Invasion this year is undoubtedly going to be one for the books. The amount of talent and overall diversity of these bass music producers and DJ’s we’re about to see on one of the best sound systems in US is an event not to be missed. Not to mention that we have the Sub.mission Resident tag session between CurlyOne,Sektah, Dillard, Aowl and Ind33p to start things off! Watching our residents perform is always a blast but these bad men all go head to head in a massive tag session is next level. The amount of fun they have shows in how they push each other on the decks and we can’t wait to see the progression that comes about from this tag session come Friday. Make sure you have your tickets if you don’t already and don’t forget there’s a costume contest going on as well so make sure you go all out with your costume so you can win some shwag, lace your dancing shoes up and we’ll see you in the dance!
