This month’s Electronic Tuesdays kick off proper with one of dubstep’s most formative artists. Jakes is known as a pioneer of the genre’s wonkier personality. The H.E.N.C.H head honcho is a creator and connissieur of dubstep’s heaviest, headbanger-friendly renditions. His own music and the music released on his seminal label is at the roots of today’s “riddim” movement, and the seasoned DJ’s set promises to showcase the timelessness of the weighty 140BPM sound.

Prophet and smith. are two newer names making waves in the broader bass music scene. Both Sub.mission Agency artists, and both American, smith. and Prophet each deliver their own distinct styles heavily influenced by the country’s contemporary electronic music landscape, yet unmistakably anchored to dubstep’s UK-based tradition. Both could be described as “future bass” artists for their respective hybrid approaches to energetic sub-heavy sound system music. June 12th’s show is sure to include moments of depth and meditation, but considering the festive vibes that each energy brings to their productions and DJ sets, when Tuesday night rolls around be sure to have your gunfingers ready.

As the head of Critical Music, Kasra’s set represents more than simply halftime/drum and bass night at Electronic Tuesdays - but a demonstration of the power of musical curation. Kasra isn’t strictly “just a DJ.” His own productions are featured among the cutting-edge Critical Music catalouge. However, on the decks, Kasra is absolutely a DJ, concerned more with building a vibe on the dance floor and representing the music he releases than showcasing his own productions. Fans of Critical Music, drum and bass, and the halftime style will hear plenty of tunes tonight that aren’t yet available anywhere else. For fans of artists like Ivy Lab, this night is a must-attend.

June wraps up with the Denver debut of SixChakra. The rising American dubstep producer is the young face of Chicago’s growing 140 community. As a staple in today’s international production community, SixChakra’s sound is a relic of dubstep’s future as well as its roots. It is only fitting that the artist’s highly anticipated Electronic Tuesdays appearance takes place alongside local Colorado favorites ETHER and Myxed Up. SixChakra will also perform at Infrasound Music Festival in Wisconsin this summer.
