Recently in Denver, Grime music has began to become more and more popular. For the upcoming Electronic Tuesdays this week, Sub.mission is pleased to be bringing Preditah, a highly popular Grime producer and DJ to Denver for a debut set. Hailing from Birmingham in the United Kingdom, Preditah's moniker is as instantly recognizable as his signature musical styles in the grime world. First noticed by JME, for his break out track The Big Wok, Preditah has been busy producing and performing ever since. Preditah is skilled in both production as well as mixing, this performance for Boiler Room highlights a tendency to blend tracks from several different genres incorporating selections from grime, garage, and house. Much of his work seems to take on a minimalistic tone, allowing the instrumentation he uses to shine through cleanly and speak for itself. For example his Green Goblin track chiefly consists of a sinister sounding horn section over a grimey bass line (along with a drum beat and vocal samples), by using this scaled down production style each element of this track contributes more to the overall sound from less. Many grime instrumentals are known for using a more skeletal, minimalist approach, some other example from Preditah's arsenal being Afghanistan and Guinness Punch. Preditah also produces garage music and he has recently also been producing bassline house with tracks like Selecta and Zero so I wouldn't be surprised if he showcases some selections from those genres in his set.
On support for the night we have recent Denver transplant from Albuqurque, New Mexico, Crix Saiz. Crix Saiz has performed for Sub.mission several times in the past and his selections typically incorporate dubstep with a heavy helping of grime. His talent as a DJ can be readily heard while listening to his Bass Tew Durk mix. He was also recently featured in our Sub.cast series, again bringing a selection that draws heavily from both dubstep and grime. A member of Esh One's Elk Beats crew, Crix Saiz is not only a DJ but has also produced many of his own dubs and exclusives. This mix he did for Dataset Clothing showcases an extensive selection of his originals. Crix credits J:Kenzo, Matty G, and Dillinjah as some of his main influences production-wise and their influence definitely shines through in his work. Crix Saiz's talent for both production and mixing has me looking forward to his performance at this upcoming event.
Closing out the night will be The Toddfatha. Long time member of Sub.mission's crew, Toddfatha began performing for crowds a few years ago. He chose to focus many of his sets on grime music and for many of our fans these sets served as their introduction to grime music as a whole. Since this edition of Electronic Tuesdays features one of grime's most prolific producers and recognizable DJs, it is only right that Toddfatha get the honor of closing down the night. Toddfatha's mix for Rage Colorado showcases his talent for track selection and features many different grime tunes throughout. With two local DJs well known for pushing grime music and one of grime musics biggest talents appearing for the coming week's Electronic Tuesdays things are set to get very grimey indeed.
