Thelem is a versatile DJ and producer who has rapidly became one of our favorite artists here at Sub.mission. Inspired by Aleister Crowley and his philosophy of Thelema, Thelem's tracks usually have a very dark tone. Well known in the dubstep world for his hit Haunted Harmonics , we are very excited to have Thelem back to be playing our 9 Year decompression session at Electronic Tuesdays. Thelem usually releases music under J:Kenzo's Artikal imprint, his first release for Artikal in 2013 included Grainform , Petrichor, and Synthetic Artifacts. Thelem usually produces tracks on the deeper end of the spectrum, which showcase an eerie atmosphere throughout his music typically featuring otherworldy sounding synth work and spooky sound effects. One of my personal favorites of his is Forces of Nature from the Haunted Harmonics EP. Another of his very popular tunes is a grime song released for Innamind Recordings, Bring me Down featuring T-Man. Thelem's unique style and talent as a DJ makes him a perfect fit to headline the 9 Year decompression party, and we are definetley looking forward to his set.
Joining Thelem for the 9 Year decompression, we have The Aliens UK on support. The Aliens UK have releases for several different labels, including Dubstar Recordings, Bassclash Records, Southside Dubstar, Alien Noize Recordings, One Gun Salute, and Dubstep Onslaught. Enough Said is a well known track of theirs, which has been remixed by Badklatt, as well as Megalodon whose Enough Said VIP is very popular among selectas. The Alien's style will be a nice counterpoint to Thelem's deeper, darker selection because their music tends to be of the harder end of the spectrum, adding a variety of styles to the night. I really enjoy their tune Space Bomb, which uses an in your face bassline and laser sounds to really get the listener pumped up. One of their latest releases, Exterminate is sure to get riddim fans packed on the dancefloor and moving. The Aliens UK are on their first US Tour, making their second stop in Denver for the 9 Year decompression party. It will be very interesting to see what they have in store for us for their Denver debut.
Closing out the 9 Year decompression will be a DJ that needs little introduction in Denver, Sub.resident and crowd favorite Sektah. Sektah is a versatile DJ who is a member of Villainz Dubstep as well as being on Sub.mission's roster of residents for quite some time now. Sektah's sets typically blend both the harder wonkier styles of dubstep, along with the deeper more melodic tracks, often incorporating a bit of grime to round everything out. He also often plays riddim sets, showcasing his ability to mix tracks and program sets for each unique style of dubstep. Closing out the 9 Year decompression should be no problem for Sektah, as he is well known for keeping crowds energetic and engaged with his sets. Check out his soundcloud to listen to some of his mixes.
