Can you feel it? The heat is beginning to rise in the City of Denver and we’re definitely not talking about the weather. With the vibes from the 9 year still fresh in our minds it would seem as if we’re all on the edge of our seats just waiting to see what exactly is coming next. Fear not though, Sub.mission has you covered and we can promise you that, as always, we’re bringing the heat! May is going to be another month of stacked line ups week in and week out. Get ready Denver because we’re about to drop some seriousness on you in this edition of This Month in Bass.
We start off with some amazing news from our family in Hawaii. For three years now Sub.mission Hawaii has been Moving People Through Sound Not Hype by pushing Sound System Culture to The Aloha State and you can bet that things won’t be slowing down any time soon. On May 7th we’re celebrating three years of island bass by bringing in the one and only Thelem for the Sub.mission Hawaii Three Year Anniversary! He’s coming in hot from some slamming performances in Denver, Houston, Seattle and Montreal to name is few and he’s about to bring some serious fire to Nextdoor in Honolulu. We also have locals Mike King, Sejika and Toki on support! This one is 18+ and to top it all off its only $10! There’s no excuse to sleep on this one so lace up your dancing shoes and we’ll see you in the dance!
Next up we return to Denver for what is about to be an absolutely stacked edition of Electronic Tuesdays. We start off with a headlining set from one of Sub.mission’s latest additions to the residency roster. On May 3rd the kid from Colorado Springs and Mile High Club bad man, Aowl, takes the stage in his first E Tuesday headlining set AND it also happens to be his birthday! This guy has some serious talent and he’s been making some serious waves in the scene in the last few years. Needless to say that we have no doubt that he has some absolutely slamming bangers cooked up for us and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us. Joining him on stage are fellow Sub.mission resident’s Ind33p & Swayd and getting us started in the April winner’s round are DJ’s Unicornrave, Wrek Dubz & Pocket Rocks. On May 10th we have the west coast homie NastyNasty in town for what looks to be an amazing headlining performance. He’s been in the game putting out heaters since 2009 on labels such as Rwina, Frite-Nite, Planet Mu & Robox Neo-Tech and he’s coming back to Denver to put down a proper set for the E-Tuesday massive. We have Denver favorites GrymeTyme and Cloud D on supporting duties and you know it’s always a party when either of these guys returns to Five Points. On May 17th Sub.mission and Recond DnB join forces once again to bring you the LONG awaited arrival of one of drum and bass’s hottest trio, Ivy Lab! Consisting of DJ’s Sabre, Stray and Halogenix; this North London trio has been smashing dancehalls for quite some time now and we’re excited to finally have them here in the mile high for some serious “Junglist Massive” business. Also on the bill is dubstep heavy hitter Content, Recon boss Despise and Valac, consisting of bad boys DMVU + Binary. This one is sure to have Five Points rocked to its core! May24th is the arrival of Birmingham dance music heavy hitter Preditah! Representing labels such as Circles, C4 and Boy Better Know as well as being a regular on KISS FM, Preditah is going to bring some serious flavor to E Tuesdays and he’s got New Mexico bad man Crix Saiz and local homie The Toddfatha. Closing out May Electronic Tuesdays on May 31st is the return of Innamind bad boys Las and Mikael. Both are playing solo and b2b sets and we have the homie Astra on support. Going head to head in the battles this month for a slot in the May Winners Round next month are DJ’s The Caretaker, Gump, R-Doo, Davi-D, Rave Booty, Illadope, J. Jewtre', Ghost, Scout Dashveen, Dream Snatcha, Wadada, Xkape, Creature, Quinitic Calabi and Jang. May is seriously bringing the heat this month!!
Finishing off May is the resident takeover @ BASSMent Sessions @ Club Vinyl. The last two have been a lot of fun as every resident goes back to back in a massive tag rotation followed by sets from some surprise guests. This one is free so there’s no excuse to miss it.
May is going to be another month where serious talent is continuously flowing through Denver. Summer is about be in full swing and Sub.mission’s May lineup is just hinting at how hot things are going to get this summer. There is some serious business on the horizon, like Caspa & Rusko for example, and Sub.mission is going to continue to keep you informed and bring you the very best in bass music. We’ll see you in the dance!
