For the last 10 years the bass music scene in Denver has gone through some serious changes. Nights and events have come and gone and through it all the .mission of moving people through sound not hype has captured the hearts of Colorado bass music lover s time and time again. This month is different from those in the past because, as life goes, things are changing for the better and the time has come to close another chapter in the annals of Denver Dubstep and open another. This month we have a double header in two Colorado cities, a great deal of Denver Debuts, a rewind of sorts, the return of some of Denver’s favorites, a very exciting hello and a very bittersweet farewell. So whether you know or are in the know, sit back and get ready for this edition of This Month in Bass.
As most of you know we started the month off proper on Tuesday night with the Denver debut of Australia’s own Zeke Beats, round two of ENiGMA Dubz, Sub.mission Resident Bean and the final Electronic Tuesdays Battle Winners Round at The Other Side. We’d like to say congratulations to Az homie Yukona for taking the battles and having the honor of being the last Electronic Tuesdays monthly winner at The Other Side. It was an amazing night of music and if you thought this Tuesday was insane, just wait until you see what the last two Electronic Tuesday’s have in store for you! We promise it will not disappoint.
First though let’s talk about this weekend’s two city double header. For some time now Sub.mission has been bringing out G Jones, NastyNasty and Sayer to rock crowds and blow minds. This time around we have a double dose of all three of them on deck for the state of Colorado! On Friday November 4th G Jones, NastyNasty & Sayer kick off the two night Colorado run alongside local bad boys GrymeTyme and DJ Wadada @ Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. Afterwards on November 5th we head up to Fort Collins for round two @ The Aggie. All three of these rude boys have been making Denver crowds bounce for years and this weekend they’re about to show the Colorado massive that every one of them is a serious force to be reckoned with.

On Tuesday November 8th we have the long awaited arrival of grime dons D Double E and Faze Miyake! Faze Miyake's signature sound has a global reach via his Rinse FM shows as he showcases new and revitalizing sounds from artist of various genres that include but are not limited to: Grime, Dubstep, Trap, Hip-Hop & so much more. It’s truly an honor to have him on stage alongside one half of the London Grime duo, the legendary Newham Generals as well. D Double E is, hands down, one of the fiercest and most talented Emcee's in grime. His lyricism is raw, his flow is flawless and the energy he brings to the stage is simply astounding. The Denver debut of these two power houses is going to show the Mile High City what true UK Grime is all about. Getting things started on support is a special b2b set between Sub.mission resident Subliminal and New Mexico bad man Crix Saiz. This is going to be a night of proper grime that everyone has been waiting for.

Next up is the very last Electronic Tuesday at The Other Side. Since its inception Electronic Tuesdays has called Cervantes and The Other Side home. For the last six years we have shared blood, sweat and tears with the staff at Cervantes and The Other Side to bring you some of the biggest nights in the history of Electronic Tuesdays but, as they say, all things must come to an end at some point. Even though this will be the last E Tuesday at The Other Side there’s no reason we can’t have one last memorable night with one of the BIGGEST Denver debut’s we’ve had to date. Since Sub.mission’s birth Nicole has tried time and time again to bring one of the godfathers of the dubstep sound to Denver and for years the Denver massive have constantly asked to have such a legend play at least one event here in the Mile High. We are glad to say that after a lot of tireless work we finally get bring you one of the originators of the sound and cultures that we love so much. On November 15th we have the one and only Loefah finally making his long anticipated Denver debut! Internationally recognized as one of the founders and true pioneers of UK Dubstep, Loefah is responsible for some of the biggest tunes that pushed the sound to a global level. This night is truly going to be one that will go down in the history book of the ten years Sub.mission has been around. Joining him are long time Sub.mission residents CurlyOne & Caustik on opening and closing duties. We are more than honored to have such a legend grace the stage and to share such a special night with such an amazing staff one more time. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the entire staff at Cervantes and The Other Side for hosting us for six amazing years. Together we have made history here in Denver and you will always have a special place in our hearts as we both move forward.

As we do move forward we have some very amazing news to speak of. There is a new venue in town and it’s called appropriately called The Black Box. It’s at 314 E 14th Ave, it has two rooms and both of them have a BASSCOUCH system in them! The grand opening is on November 19th and it features none other than Mala, Kahn & Neek and the Sub.mission Residents on the main side and Moresounds, Despise and the Recon D&B Residents in The Lounge. If you we’re at the Sub.mission 9 Year Anniversary then you already know how awesome Mala, Kahn & Neek and the Sub.mission Residents sound on the Basscouch system. We are in for some serious bass weight with these guys and adding to all this we have Moresounds, Despise and the Recon Residents in The Lounge. I know we aren’t the only ones who are excited to finally catch Moresounds and we are more thrilled to run back and forth between rooms while feeling the subs hit our core every step of the way. Tickets for this one are already on sale and going FAST so get them as soon as possible because this one will most definitely sell out.

We finish off the month with the first two Electronic Tuesdays at The Black Box. On November 22nd we have the Denver debut of LOST! Joining him is the return of riddim bad man Bommer and Minnesota’s own Johnny Foreplay. If that wasn’t enough the week after we have the return of Grimblee, OldGold and Denver’s own Dalek One on November 29th closing out this amazing month of music. It’s quite an honor to say that all of these men mentioned are at the top of their sound design game and to be able to hear them all flex their individual style and sound on the Basscouch system is truly going to be an amazing experience. This is truly the beginning of something special. We absolutely cannot wait to see what the future for Electronic Tuesdays holds.
