Now that summer is almost in our rear view and fall is just over the horizon we can sit back and reflect on how big the last few months really was. We’ve had legendary battle sets from some of Denver’s up and coming DJ’s and producers, massive Denver debuts, triumphant returns and so much more that a single article could be written on this summer alone! However we’re not here to dwell on the past, as awesome as it may be, but instead to tell what the future has in store for you. So whether you know or want to be in the know, sit back and get ready for this edition of This Month In Bass.
Starting off with Electronic Tuesdays on September 6th is the long awaited battle of two of Denver’s fiercest emerging dubstep crews. Get ready for a serious clash of the bass titans as the Shinigami Crew & Mile High Club go head to head in an all out war! ЯEM, ЯYUK, FR0Z+WR3CK, Barrett & Gahlaktus will be facing off against Swayd, Yakz, Ind33p, Ether & AOWL in a battle for who holds the title of Denver’s top dubstep DJ/Production crew. Many of these artists are Sub.mission residents, friends and family so it goes without saying that this “Civil War” is going to be a no holds barred battle royal of epic proportions. Each one of these DJ/Producers has roots in varying genres that cross the spectrum of bass music from deep and dark to heavy and wonky. This is a local’s battle that is sure to be talked about for years to come. Joining them on support is none other than Waylo and starting off the night in the August winners round of the Electronic Tuesday battles are Vicix, Drop Talk and DiS_1. This line up is stacked and the tension is thick with competition so you know that every artist on the decks is going to bring their ‘A” game. The following Tuesday, on September 13th is the long awaited return of the bass music jazz man and all around rude boy, Swindle! Since his last visit to Denver on the ‘Peace, Love & Music’ tour he has been very busy putting together new material that pulls from an array of different genre’s and adds to an already eclectic library of Swindle music. His latest release ‘Connecta’ is one of three EP’s that carries the spirit of ‘PL&M’ in a sense that every EP was made in a different location with different artists. Add to that his love for Denver and the Sub.massive that always shows him as much love as he gives, this is going to be one of the best nights of not only bass music but amazing music in general this September. The week after on September 20th we have the arrival of Croydon’s own Deft. Starting out his musical journey as a drummer, Deft has managed to break the stigma of his home town sound and establish his own audio signature that represents the forward thinking sounds he creates. With roots in Hip Hop, House, 140, Jungle and Footwork; he is able to flex his roots on stage through technique and style, making him break the mold of playing to one genre in a set. There’s no doubt he has some serious tricks up his sleeve for the Denver massive and we can’t wait to finally see this live performance as he is rumored to be one of the best and unique acts out of Croydon in a long time. Joining him on support is Recon Drum and Bass boss Despise and Sub.mission Resident Subliminal. You know it’s a party when either of these two heavyweights are on stage so this is definitely a Tuesday you don’t want to miss.
