EYEDIOLA PHOTOGRAPHY Take your average Tuesday night in Denver, throw in some top-notch headlining talent, amazing locals, unique vendors, live painting, along with a dedicated fan base of bass music lovers and you got yourself Electronic Tuesdays presented by Sub.mission. Every Tuesday night in Denver is a special night as Sub.mission hosts this amazing weekly gathering that offers a place to break free of your weekday routines and vibe out to some awesome music at a price that can’t be beat. Not only does each Tuesday provide a taste of the diverse local talent throughout the state of Colorado, but we are fortunate enough to have massive international headliners under the same roof as well! This week we welcomed London’s very own Flava D from the Butterz crew for a headlining performance as she made her highly anticipated Denver debut this past Tuesday night and put on a performance that won’t soon be forgotten.
The night began at 8:00pm sharp with the weekly DJ battles featuring 4 local acts putting in work and pushing their sound throughout the state of Colorado and beyond. This week’s battle featured a wide variety of electronic music styles that demonstrated the diverse talents of the 4 selectors Pseudo, DJ Vinyasa, Gahlaktus, & Spectral and their sounds primarily ranged from House, Trance, Dubstep, Drum & Bass, & Electro. From the moment the doors opened, the battlers got right down to business and made the most out of their 30 minute time slots to move the crowd and prove to the judges that they have what it takes to advance to the next round of the competition. After a heated battle between the 4 selectors, Gahlaktus emerged as this week’s winner and beat out the competition with his minimal, bass heavy dubstep sound. Congrats to Gahlaktus for taking the win among some very talented competitors! Colorado really has one of the best and most diverse local scenes in the entire country and we are reminded of this every single Tuesday night.

Following the opening DJ battles, it was time for The Toddfatha to make his Electronic Tuesdays return and set the tone for the remainder of the night. Over the years The Toddfatha has established himself as a true staple in the Denver bass music scene and it comes with no surprise. Armed with a vast musical knowledge and supreme DJ’ing abilities, The Toddfatha has what it takes to get the crowd moving while kicking a lesson in true sound system culture. This past Tuesday night The Toddfatha delivered a set that was comprised of heavy UK Grime influences that set the vibe for the remainder of the night and only left us wanting more. Blending classic dusbtep tunes along with new-aged dance floor bangers, The Toddfatha put in some serious work last Tuesday night and he always brings the heat when he’s live in the mix! Be sure to keep tabs on the one like ‘The Toddfatha’!

As the night progressed and the dance floor began to pack out, it was time for Sub.mission resident Subliminal to take the decks and carry us on throughout the night and amplify the energy in the room with his triple-deck madness. Subliminal is one of my personal favorite artists on the Sub.mission roster of resident DJ’s and to see him perform live is always a treat. From the moment he took the stage, Subliminal’s sound circulated throughout the dance floor with hard-hitting bass lines with an upbeat energy that the crowd couldn’t help but dance to. The vibe in the room was thick and Subliminal was the perfect man to hold it down on the local support for Flava D’s Denver debut. Coming fresh off of a massive headlining performance from Swindle at last week’s Electronic Tuesdays, it was time for the Butterz madness to continue with the highly anticipated Denver debut of London’s very own Flava D! As I looked out into the crowd, I noticed a sea of both new and familiar faces gathered to welcome and embrace Flava D’s performance. With a glowing smile behind her lowered ‘Flava D’ baseball cap, the artist lit up the stage and delivered a set that had the crowd on their toes from beginning to end. Her set was comprised of her signature bassline house and grime sound that offered a style that was both new and refreshing to Cervantes’ Other Side. Tunes like Flava D’s ‘In The Dance’ and Breakage’s ‘Hard’ erupted the dance floor and were definitely among the crowd favorites of the night. On Tuesday night Flava D pressed the boundaries of bass music with a set that was packed with all original material and broke the barriers of a massively male-dominated industry as a female DJ/Producer.

Overall this past Tuesday night was one of the most exciting and refreshing Electronic Tuesdays of the summer and the Denver debut of Flava D sure went off with a bang! Big ups to everyone that performed and everyone that came out and took part in such a huge night in sound at Cervantes’ Other Side presented by Sub.mission!
