It is no secret that over the course of the past roughly two decades there has been a vast transformation in not only the music and the scene but also the industry that is behind it all. For the most part promoters these days book the acts that they think are currently at the top of the popularity charts and will bring in the most revenue without helping to influence the growth of the different cultures that helped bring about todays modern standards. It is this current status quo and the deep passion and eurning to create a vibe that is seemingly a long lost sonic artifact buried by the sands of time that has brought veteran producers Noah D and No Thing together to co-create the duo known as Lost City. 
Both eclectic artist’s have long been household names in the underground of the electronic world each having over 10 years of experience under their belts. The two met what seems like ages ago while attending high school in the mid to late 90’s in Cupertino, California smack between San Jose and San Francisco; first hanging out at a Rage Against the Machine concert. The first electronic music that really hooked their crew back in the day were the DNB and Jungle artists that were prevalent at the time. Drum and Bass with a focus on the Ragga vocals that made what was Jungle was all the inspiration they needed to start down the road that would ultimately lead the both parties not only down their own individual paths forming their own specific sound and world-wide recognition but what would ultimately bring the two back together as a new power-force known as Lost City.
Noah D has spent well over the last decade forming and perfecting his craft. In the studio he is recognized for his flawlessness and attention to detail on all his tracks. Prior to 2008 he had built his foundation mainly releasing DNB through some of the biggest labels at the time like Renegade Recordings and many others. 2009 saw the release of “Seeeriousss” which was his claim to fame amongst the dubstep community receiving acknowledgement from some of the main leaders in the game including Skream, N-Type, Bassnectar, and Plastician. Pioneering in the genre is what brought him to 12th Planet’s SMOG records which saw the launch of his first full length release entitled “Perspectives” back in 2012. Even with an unmatchable skill set in the studio he is also a world class DJ. Focusing his sound on being distinct by being indistinct, he is known for rocking parties world-wide by moving through all different styles and genres reverberating both the atmosphere of the venue and the energy of the crowd back through the room through his sound; his undeniable free style DJ skill mean that no two shows will ever be the same. A balance of both smooth, sensual and sensational aggressive tunes he takes his audiences on a journey through the full spectrum of musical forms. When he is on stage nothing is off limits he is quoted saying “If it doesn’t move me I am not interested” so that certainly leaves a-lot in the air for what that might be.
No Thing was there in the early days of the west coast bass movement right with Noah D, and as much as it both influenced them both of their careers went in very different directions. Although the early days of No Thing a a bit of a blur he made his mark across the globe by joining forces with Sub.Mission favorite Roomate under the name Babylon System back in 2006. In the primeval days of Dubstep this was a name everybody knew bringing Regga, Dubstep, and an all around gangster sound first popping up in club nights all over America and shortly after everywhere on the planet that was helping to give birth to the sound we all know and love today. Tunes like “Examination of Time” and “Loaded” had people moving practically everywhere. Over the course of their releases they are known for working with names in the game such as TRUTH, SPL, and even No Things current partner in crime Noah D. Since each individual artist has been making their way into the hall of fame of the underground scene they have each witnessed the sound that first inspired them to fall off of the map. It is the strive to educate the masses on that sound that has caused them to unite as Lost City and catalyze the rebirth of the vibes that have been forgotten and neglected.
The revival of the Jungle and Drum and Bass experiences and energy that the two fell in love with so long ago is the goal of this project. They want to revitalize a lost sound and help to educate the current audiences on something that they could be entirely missing going to todays modern large electronic events. “A lot of kids going to big parties these days probably don’t even know what Jungle is so we felt like it was a good time to bring back those vibes in a newer setting that fits to the current electronic atmosphere.” (Noah D) Both Noah D and No Thing wanted not only to create but experience the Jungle flavor again. They wanted to bring it back in a new fashion. They decided to not only present it in a way to fit to current EDM standards but also renew it in a way not adjacent to any traditional format; adding new tempo’s, structures, and styles, to help revitalize the genre. The two self entitled their new creation JNGL, consisting of a combination of the Jungle and Regge sounds along with Future, Dancehall, Dubstep, DNB, Trap, Hip Hop, Drumstep to give listeners an experience unlike any other.
Lost City, originating just over a year ago back in February of 2014, has spent their time slowly creeping into the public radar of both fans and promoters alike. Although the vast majority of individuals may not be familiar with the act they are catching a small wind, just the way they intended. Originally dropping their first and only EP to date simple entitled “Lost City JNGL” which had an initial three tracks including their first song release OG Roots, a remix of “In Your Eyes ft. Johnny Osbourne, and an original track with Shabba Roots entitled “Ting A Ling” they had been off to a good start but expanded to an EP on their BandCamp with “Lost City HQ” adding three new tracks including their JNGL mix of “Dark Horse”, “Gunna Get Tougher”, and “Run It” released March 06, 2014. They have no current stated releases as they have wanted to keep the project independent in order to “control the timing of releases and free music in the early stages of the project” While releasing JNGLE Mix’s both 001 and 002 they have been hard at work at music releasing both tunes on their own accord as well as a featured in releases on Lions Den 002 via Lions Den Sound with their remix of "Blue Hill" ft. Lutan Fyah- “Get Out” as well as the track "Stand" ft. King Mas released via King Dubbist Records run by long time friend Roomate alongside Unity Selecta. Their most recent remix is of TRUTH’s “Undeniable.” One major goal was to not only create an ode the the music long lost but also create a new environment with original production and vocals which they have clearly achieved over the short time the project has lived.
Even with a decent amount of music up their sleeves ready to go seeing the two play together is a rarity as much as it is an anomaly. Only playing a few shows in 2014 with Sublimate at The Rose Bar in Oregon, DNB Tuesdays in Seattle, and The OMG Lounge at What The Festival in 2014. They headlined a new years day celebration in 2015 Respect in their home state California in L.A. and Emissions- West Coast Bass Culture Festival alongside Aesop Rock, G. Jones, TRUTH, 6 Blocc, and more. Only having a handful of shows over the last two years truly means that Sub.Mission is truly blessed to have these two play a two hour long set for us next week at Electronic Tuesdays at The Otherside.
Denver today has a huge base of DNB/ Jungle and Dubstep fans alike, it was and still is an epicenter for the underground to thrive; so it is no surprise we here are lucky enough to have these accomplished badmen give the mile high city a taste of their JNGL format. The combination of the long time jungle fanatics and the newer heads that want to get a taste of this energy that has been absent from the vast majority of the electronic spectrum is surely enough to pack the house tuesday night and bring an energy unlike any other. Those who decide to make it out are in for not only a treat but will help to be part of the mission to help a sound movement. Each participant in their own way playing a role in this sonic experiment. Be prepared to break a sweat this coming Tuesday as there will be no holding back once Noah D and No Thing take the stage. This night will be nothing short of special, as is the norm with every Tuesday night in Denver with the Sub.Mission family.
