The Fall season is finally here and there is no better way to welcome this change than with some proper bass music at Electronic Tuesdays presented by Sub.mission. This past Tuesday night we gathered on the dance floor to embrace a fully loaded lineup comprised of some of the sickest local and nationwide talent on the bass music circuit. The drinks were flowing, the vibe was thick, and the bass was hitting hard at Cervantes’ Other Side this past Tuesday night! The gloomy weather and misty atmosphere combined with a little bit of rain was prevalent throughout the day as the 1st Electronic Tuesdays of the month of October was ready to take off in full force. Bass music enthusiasts of all ages and background gathered on the dance floor to embrace a massive night in sound as the night began at 8:00pm sharp with the September Winners Showcase DJ battles. Selectors Gangsterish, Counterfeit Rainbow, Dis_1, and Rukus each won their previous battles at Electronic Tuesdays during the month of September and proved that they have what it takes to impress the judges and get the crowd moving. With styles ranging from ElectroSwing, Glitch, Tear-Out Dubstep, and funky jazz influences, this past Tuesday night’s battle was one of the most well-rounded battles that we have seen so far and truly demonstrated how diverse and talented the local scene in Colorado really is. After a heated competition among the battlers, Dis_1 snatched the victory and was crowned the battle champion of the month of September. Dis_1’s classic dubstep set won over the audience and the judges alike and at the end of his set, we were only left wanting more. Big ups to Dis_1 and all of the battlers that brought the heat and kept the dance floor busy!

(EYEDIOLA PHOTOGRAPHY)Following the September winners showcase, it was now time for the one like Unicorn Fukr from Subway Music to take the stage and set the tone for the rest of the night. With a name like ‘Unicorn Fukr’, there is no doubt that this artist raises an eyebrow and certainly draws attention. Hailing from New Orleans, Unicorn Fukr has been an intergral part of the bass music community down South and on Tuesday night he showed Denver what his style is all about! Prior to Tuesdays performance I had listened to some mixes of his and got a taste of the sound that he plays when he’s live in the mix and I was truly impressed. He is a multi-faceted artist that knows how to cater to any crowd and his sound is not exclusive to the 140 bpm.
On Tuesday night he played a set packed with classic dubstep tunes that were very fitting and appropriate for the Electronic Tuesdays crowd and he set the tone for headliner AxH flawlessly. Among the massive selection that Unicron Fukr rinsed out that night, my personal favorite part of his set was when he threw down Kryptic Minds’ iconic tune ‘6 degrees’ into the mix and set off the crowd at The Other Side. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed his entire set and was glad that I got to catch up with the Fukr after his set and thank him for his performance. He had an upbeat and charismatic attitude that expressed how happy he was to be playing at Electronic Tuesdays and he even gifted me with some Unicorn Fukr stickers that say ‘Get Weird’ with is signature logo on them. He threw down a sick set and definitely made a statement in this rare Denver appearance!

(EYEDIOLA PHOTOGRAPHY)Now was the time we had all been waiting for, the highly-anticipated Electronic Tuesdays debut of Tempa Records all star, AxH! Ever since seeing AxH perform at the Elk Beats release party back in September of 2014, I had been anxiously awaited AxH to make his Denver return to unleash some serious bass weight, this time at Electronic Tuesdays! AxH has been dedicated to underground bass music for nearly two decades and his knowledge and skill behind the decks is truly remarkable. AxH is known to play sets that are mainly comprised of all original and exclusive material and he is the first American DJ & producer to be signed exclusively to the highly acclaimed label, Tempa Records. As soon as he hit the decks, AxH got straight to business with his minimal dubstep sound and supreme mixing abilities and ever evolving track selection combined to put on one of the sickest sets that we have seen at Electronic Tuesdays so far! The profound vibration from the subs pulsated throughout the crowd and induced the audience into a deep state of meditation with eyes gleaming low and an underground dungeon vibe that is reminiscent of the early dusbtep days. With his upcoming release ‘Numbskull’ on Tempa looming around the corner and set to drop on October 30, AxH is gaining massive momentum and has been making some serious waves internationally and it is no surpise that AxH has been drawing the attention of bass music heavyweights from around the world. He made a true statement in his Electronic Tuesdays debut and proved that he is a serious force to be reckoned with as the Boston native is putting the United States on the map when it comes to underground dubstep. Regardless of your previous knowledge on the one like AxH, he is definitely an artist that you want to keep tabs on as he is sure to rumble the dance floor and spread his tribal sound with no sign of slowing down. Keep it locked on AxH and be sure to cop his upcoming Tempa release dropping at the end of this month!

(EYEDIOLA PHOTOGRAPHY)To finish off the night with a bang and keep the vibe in the room flowing strong, Sub.mission resident DJ Subliminal took to the stage and brought the heat and delivered a set packed with knockers to close the night out proper. Subliminal’s triple-deck mixing and forward thinking track selection are known to move any crowd and he is always a pleasure to see live in the mix! Subliminal is one of the sickest DJ’s on the roster of Sub.mission residents and I couldn’t think of a better act to close out the night. Projecting a style of low end dubstep and UK grime influences, Subliminal has an extensive set of tunes and has many tricks up his sleeves each and every time.
