With how many international, national and local artists that have come and gone this year and all the amazing memories we have of each passing week it’s easy to see why the year has gone by so fast. This upcoming week is no different. This week we have bad man Compa coming all the way from Manchester, England on the fourth stop of his international tour, Recon family Gorteks and Sub.mission Resident Dillard. So whether you’re unfamiliar with the upcoming Electronic Tuesday lineup or you’re just wanting to know a little bit more about everyone playing, hang tight and get settled in for this edition of “Hustle Knowledge”.
There’s no easy way to say this but if you don’t know about Compa then youre about to. This man has seriously been making a name for himself since he debuted on GetDarkerTv in 2011. He released his inaugural 12”single, ‘Sentence’ & ‘Beginning’, and the infamous bootleg of Mavado’s ‘Dem A Try’ with the legendary Boka Records, one of Dubstep’s founding imprints. Both releases sold out extremely fast and in the process solidified him as one of dubstep’s up and coming players. At the young age of 21 he was signed to Mala's Deep Medi Musik label, perhaps the most revered seal of approval in all the underground Dubstep circles. He’s received numerous amounts of approbation from Dj’s and producers across the globe from key influences such as BBC 6 Music's Gilles Peterson & Nerm , Toddla T & B-Traits on BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra as J:Kenzo, Jay 5ive, Plastician and N-Type amongst others on the prestigious Rinse Fm. His tunes have also found their way into the record bags of prestigious dubstep scene pioneers Chase & Status (Ram, Mercury, Renegade Hardware), US Dubstep Ambassador Joe Nice (Dub War, Reconstrvct) and of course Mala (dmz). In addition to performing across Europe he’s also toured Sweden, Canada and North America twice-over since the start of 2012 and yet despite his ongoing tour schedule and vast amounts of time spent in the studio you can still hear Compa play live on Sub FM once a month, Monday 6pm-8pm GMT. Get ready Denver, he’s about to seriously show you how Manchester does dubstep.
Goreteks are no strangers to the Electronic Tuesday’s stage. It may have been a while since they we’re last here but I can promise you that when they take the stage it will seem as if they we’re there every week. Comprised of DJ’s Strode & Baloo, the Recon Drum and Bass residents are going to educate and awe the Sub.mission massive. Having releases on labels such as Jungletrain , Architecture, Section 8 Jungle Syndicate, Noizy Drums, Criminal, Oblivion Fringe and most recently Free Love Digi; these junglists are about to once again give us a dose in jungle education.
Closing out the night we have Sub.mission resident and all around rude boy Dillard. This man is a master at controlling space with sound. His style takes a variety of personal influences into a unique sound that effortlessly blends rolling basslines with glitched out percussion and a warm, vinyl-tinged je ne sais quoi that gives his music a distinct 'Colorado' vibe. With tunes that explore the spectrums of dub to deep and beyond he will rattle you to your core and prove why is one of the most well regarded artists in the Denver dubstep scene. When asked about his sets he says ''I like to have a conversation with the crowd. I feed off their energy but at the same time, I want to take them into my head so they can vibe with the same things I vibe with". He’s a master of his craft and we can’t wait to see him flex his skills again.
