Halloween is exciting everyone. The ancient annual celebration for people to pay homage to everything from the dark essence of the supernatural and occult to their deepest innermost fears. It is a time when the seemingly ordinary world that surrounds us is dissolved as the the questions that have haunted society for generations are awakened. For those involved in the Denver music community this grim festival is honored as the freaks conjoin in a seance on the dance floor. This is a well known time for Denver Dubstep fans as the highly esteemed Electronic Tuesday Halloween Special is almost upon us, bringing everyone together for one of the biggest Tuesday nights of the year! This time around there is no shortage of ominous bass music to help raise the dead as we have a double headliner with Grimblee VS Hecka and Bogtrotter bringing the beats for this wicked night
Gilbert Splett, the dynamic brains behind both the Grimblee and Hecka projects is no new name to the Sub.Mission stage bringing his unique flavor of hard hitting, immaculate, unadulterated bass music to Denver for years. Born in L.A. raised in Salt Lake City, Utah; Splett has been crafting his sound for well over a decade working on music production since the young age of 12. First bursting onto the scene under the allies Grimblee he began playing shows in the midwest but it wasn’t long before he had caught wind all around the nation within the bass music scene. As Grimblee, he creates everything from Dubstep, DNB, and even recently revealing some house and grime. Recognized for his innovation he is constantly pushing the boundaries and always continuing to bring something new to the table with his ever evolving sound. There really is no stopping this mad man as he is constantly blowing people away with his new material; he sites his inspiration to his “love for making music everyday.” You can always expect a different experience every time he hits the stage, in an interview he states “I always have room for improvement... I am always trying to learn new stuff because learning is fucking awesome!” It was this passion for producing beats and desire to expand further into the realms of auditory soundscapes that helped to give rise to his remarkable alter ego, known as Hecka.
What Grimblee did for dubstep world Hecka is doing for just about everything else. In an effort to expand his own horizons as an artist Splett created Hecka. Splett states “I wanted to relate to other people/crowds/events. I just wanted to explore other things in producing music and Hecka was my solution to that.” Since his debut EP under the name back in 2013 the project has taken on a life of its own seeing three more full length release; everything from banging hip-hop anthems to pristine ambient melodies. There is really nothing off limits for him. When playing a party he will always respect the promoter and the atmosphere of the event, choosing what to play based on the vibes for the night. However he says “I prefer to play whatever the hell I want” which is exactly what we will be giving him the opportunity to do this upcoming Electronic Tuesday with a Grimblee VS Hecka headlining slot. An entire set of no-holds bar material spanning his entire catalogue of material surely to take everybody on a full journey through the electronic realm. The yearly ETuesday Halloween special is always a huge night and this year we are bringing not only the split ego’s of Splett’s mind but also the dark and swampy sounds of the one and only Bogtrotter to help us celebrate this paranormal evening.
Bogtrotter emerged onto the scene making an extremely distinguishable name over a very short time the last several years proving once again how quickly talent can rise within this growing scene. His songs are as creative as they are immaculate and his whompy and glitched out take on the psychedelic audio movement has caught the ears of listeners world wide. Curtis (Bogtrotter) Czock, one of the founding members of the Shanti Planti Collective has had his hand in helping the growth of the mid-tempo glitch scene for years; first making title waves with his debut release of “Sonic Visions” in 2013 on Shanti. He has since seen two releases on the same label and his most recent “Dark Matter” which dropped on Additech, the same small organization that was the first to give the god father Tipper the opportunity and platform to release his masterpieces to the public; who has obviously been a large influence on Bogtrotter. Quoting some of his other influences to Tool, Lamb of God, the Enig’matik gang, and Sun in Aquarius gives you a good idea of the idea of all the gooey and grisly layers that have given Bogtrotter his iconic sound. Over just a few years he has absolutely blown up across the nation and is now making moves world wide; just announced for his first overseas booking with Earth Frequency Festival. Proving himself as not only a master in the studio but in live performance he is certainly a name not to be over looked. Bogtrotters set to end the night will surely have everybody in the room summoning all sorts of powerful spirits for this Halloween hootenanny.

If your not then get ready for an hour and a half of nothing but the finest tunes played seamlessly from some of Colorado’s most talented locals. Music laid down by the Sub.Mission crew for the Sub.Mission crew, these sets have never disappointed and have earned high ranking among the Denver Dubstep fans, even occasionally stealing the night with extremely high energy sets. Get ready as the Sub.Mission Resident team quakes through the ground of The Otherside. As always at Electronic Tuesdays we have our local DJ battles to begin the night to spot light local talent. This weeks festivities start off with G-Zis, Goldyloxx, Quntic Calabi, and Universal Knowledge so make sure to get there early so you can cast your vote and help decide who will make it into the final round!
