Continuing the onslaught of ridiculously quality dubstep, next Saturday November 28th marks the long awaited Denver debut of the esteemed UK artist LX One. Hailing from London, LX One has consistently showcased his versatility within and dedication to sound system culture. Having gained incredible respect amongst the drum and bass community for his involvement and genius as an MC, LX One surfaced with his own productions in 2010 and hasn’t slowed down since.
Splitting releases between dubstep powerhouse labels Tempa, Wheel & Deal, and the late Osiris, pretty much all of his tunes have proven to be timeless anthems. LX One is unadulterated, raw dubstep that will leave your head nodding and the walls shaking. Presumably picking up tricks from some of the great drum and bass producers he has shared the stage with, LX One fires on all cylinders with his brother-in-arms SP:MC. There is an undeniable groove to their beats that leaves you saying “there’s something about those MC’s.” Resembling drum and bass with unreal production and percussion that slaps with funk, gangster basslines skip and swing with restrained potency to the riddim of 140.
The striking similarity between his tracks does not grow stale; his music continues to sound as fresh as ever. And as dubstep trends come and go, LX One crafts his dungeon-esque tracks that possess a surly, gangster feel and a certain “it” factor that is straight up moving. Whether he’s flowing on the mic or serving up the decks, LX One is a dominant force within the global sound system community. The Denver sub.fam has been patiently awaiting this night for years and it couldn’t have come at a better time with the recent release of his debut Motions LP. It is finally time to get down to the rowdy sounds of LX One.
