As the year of 2015 concludes and comes to a close, Sub.mission had one final treat up their sleeves to send us off with a bang at the final Electronic Tuesdays of the year with a sold out show featuring massive headlining performances from Denver favorites Truth & Megalodon. As soon as this show was announced, I had been eagerly awaiting this night and when it finally came I couldn’t be more excited. Individually, Truth & Megalodon have always stood out as some of my favorite DJ’s/Producers and to see them perform in the same night in the intimacy of Cervantes’ Other Side was a very special treat! I later was intrigued to find out that they would be playing a back-to-back set during the night and enormous thrills and slight curiosity took over my emotions. Truth and Megalodon have very distinct styles of their own and to see them join forces live and direct to end the speculation of this must-see performance was something that I will never forget. A sold out crowd, hard hitting bass from beginning to end, and a dense vibe combined to make this one of the best Electronic Tuesdays to date! Here’s how the night went! 
The night began at 8:30pm with the weekly DJ battles featuring a stacked roster of some of the sickest local talent from throughout Colorado and this week selectors Phocust, Wrek Dubz, and Contra Scandal took the stage to set the tone early in the night and prove why it is important to come out early. Each artist made the most out of their 30 minute time slots to get the crowd moving and demonstrate that they have what it takes to advance to the next round of the competition and show what they’re made of. The E-Tuesdays crowd came out early and filled the dance floor as the DJ battles started the night off proper and once again showed how diverse and talented the local scene in Colorado really is. After a heated battle among the 3 DJ’s , Contra Scandal emerged as this week’s winner and will perform in the December Winners Showcase taking place this upcoming Tuesday at Cervantes’ Other Side.
His heavier Dubstep style resonated with the crowd very well and his set was packed with original material that also demonstrate his talents as a producer. Big ups to Contra Scandal for taking the win!

As a sea of both new and familiar faces flooded out the dance floor from front to back, it was now time for Sub.mission crew member DiS_1 to take the stage and kick things up a notch. Having won both of his previous battles at Electronic Tuesdays in recent months, Dis_1 made his return to The Other Side to lay it down once again and amplify the energy in the room. Following up the opening DJ battles that were packed with heavier, more aggressive styles of dubstep, DiS_1 brought it back to the roots and performed a deeper, more minimal set that resembled the earlier foundation of the sound. Performing tunes from some of the OG’s in the game such as Benga, Coki, Sukh Knight, Goth Trad, Rusko, etc… As I looked out into the crowd, I could tell that there was fair portion of the audience that was being exposed to this type of sound for their first time and DiS_1 did a proper job of educating the crowd by showing them styles that they may not have heard before. Original Dubstep sounds combined with some UK Grime made for an awesome performance and DiS_1’s set was one of the best that I have seen from him so far! Big ups DiS_1 !

Next up on the decks it was time for the one like Swayd to step up and unleash his signature bass heavy madness on the audience. No stranger to Cervantes’ Other Side, Swayd has truly established himself as one of the most exciting and explosive young talents throughout the underground scene in Colorado. His performances are packed with an arsenal of new and original material and it seems like ever time you see him perform, he’s got some exclusive, cutting-edge material up his sleeve. Swayd stays busy in the lab developing new tunes and to hear them played out live for the first time is exhilarating. His synth work is next-level and his crunchy style compels your body to move and gets your adrenaline going whether you like it or not! Be sure to keep a close eye on Swayd as we transition into the new year, big things are definitely on the horizon!

Now it was time for Dre from Truth to take the decks and unleash some proper bass and get the ground rumbling with his signature, internationally renowned ‘Deep, Dark & Dangerous’ tunage. Dating back to the 1st time that I saw Truth perform at the Sub.mission 5 year anniversary, they have always stood out as some of my favorite DJ’s/Producers and their style of dubstep embodies everything that I look for when it comes to bass music. Deep melodies and sub-heavy percussions combine to set a dark and cataclysmic atmosphere that consumes the entire room and induces a deep state of meditation with bass lines so profound that they penetrate your body and tingle your insides. Some music you can hear, and then there is music that you can truly FEEL. Out of the dozens of times that I have seen Truth perform throughout the years, I must say that this past Tuesday night was my favorite so far due to the track selection that was rinsed out. Tunes such as ‘No Chance’ , ‘German Whip’ , ‘Undeniable’, ‘Monumental’ ‘Metal Mouth’ , ‘Devils Hands’ , and ‘Numbskull’ were among the extensive list of tracks that were performed and I couldn’t have been happier with this assortment. From beginning to end, the New Zealander captured the crowd and took us on a journey through dubstep in various forms and demonstrated what the true underground sound is all about. Boasting massive releases on top labels such as the infamous Deep Medi, Tempa, Firepower, Black Box, & more, Truth is widely known for their versatile, cinematic sound and on Tuesday night we experienced a little bit of everything! Truth gear and merchandise was in abundance throughout the crowd and it is no surprise that Denver fiends for the Deep, Dark, and Dangerous sound that Truth is known for.

It was now time for one of the most anticipated back-to-back sets that Electronic Tuesdays has hosted so far as Megalodon would be joining forces with Truth for a truly massive set that had been long awaited. I remember the first time seeing ‘Truth b2b Megalodon’ on the lineup for and event called Jingle The Bass in Saint Louis and thinking to myself how interesting of a combination this was. Both sets of artists have such distinct styles where truth resembles the Deeper styles and Megalodon is known for his upbeat, aggressiveness and to see them combine in a back-to-back performance was a very special rarity! Overall their back-to-back set was a well balanced compilation that broke the barriers of dubstep and was a nice journey of the 140bpm in all its forms, featuring old school classics as well as current dance floor bangers as well.

To close out the night, it was time for the man himself, Cory Artsay, better known as ‘Megalodon’ finish the night strong. Similar to the prehistoric predator that his name suggests, from the moment that he took the stage Megalodon’s skull crushing sound unleashed like a ruthless shark attack and instigated one of the rowdiest crowds that I have ever seen at Electronic Tuesdays. A series of inevitable moshpits broke out in the crowds as the audience was consumed by Megalodon’s aggressive bass lines and high energy beat forms. Over the years Megalodon has gained massive momentum throughout the dubstep circuit and no matter where you go, his name reigns supreme as he is widely known for his cutting-edge mixing abilities and forward thinking track selection. He is a true pleasure to see perform live and every time he’s in the mix, you’re going to get something completely new and refreshing. I believe that he is one of the best DJ’s in the game and so far he has exceeded all expectations and continuously blows crowds out of the water. His double drops blend together flawlessly and demonstrate his superb beat matching skills. Tunes like Badklaat’s ‘Headcrush’ blended with Laxx’s ‘Step One’, was a deadly matchup along with 50 Carrot & Coffi’s classic ‘LDN TWN’ + Badklaat’s ‘Get Twisted’ set off the crowd and had the audience begging for more. Megalodon’s ‘Yabba Dabbs’ was also among the crowd favorites and his entire catalogue of tunes from the Never Say Die imprint had everyone raging mindlessly on the dance floor.

All-in-all, this past Tuesday night was one of the best, and rowdiest Electronic Tuesdays that I have been a part of to-date. The combination and contrast of electronic styles that the night brought forth offered sounds for everyone to enjoy and went over really well with the sold out crowd. The sound system was pushed to its limit and the music was on point from beginning to end. Soreness in my neck from headbanging the entire night combined with a slight ringing sensation in my ears reassures me that Tuesday night was one of the craziest Electronic Tuesdays yet and I couldn’t ask for more from the final installment of 2015! Big ups to everyone that came out and took part in such a massive night in sound presented by Sub.mission!
