This Saturday the Sub.mission Agency returns to The Black Box with yet another powerhouse lineup custom tailored especially for the hometown crowd. This edition of the showcase series spotlights dubstep’s diversity and musical breadth: Sectra, Mesck, TMSV, and Emalkay each bring their own unique flavors to the realm of 140 (and beyond).
Tickets for this event are available now.
Sectra
Boasting releases on labels including Deep Dark & Dangerous, Encrypted Audio, and Denver’s own FringeWorthy, newly-dubbed Denver local Sectra is swiftly becoming a Black Box favorite. As a producer, Sectra draws equal influence from metal, noise, and genres beyond as he does dubstep itself. His approach to sound system music is distorted, demonic, and physically immersive on the dance floor.
Mesck
As one of the most recognizable American names in dubstep, Mesck is a consistent force on the decks. The seasoned producer’s release catalogue reflects not only prowess, but personality on the buttons: labels including Chestplate, Crucial Recordings, and most recently Trusik each make uniquely fitting homes for Mesck’s music. The artist’s energy for dubstep’s many modern creative renditions is contagious in his DJ sets. Expect an assault of massive tunes from under the radar artists (and under-the-radar tunes from massive artists), as well as plenty of original material by the producer himself.
TMSV
Since his E-Tuesdays debut this summer, multi-genre mastermind TMSV has unleashed two massive dubstep EPs on Innamind Recordings and White Peach Records - and we suspect that’s only the tip of the iceberg. As one of bass music’s most well-rounded producers, TMSV also emerges today as a self-aware leader for the future of sound system music. He co-hosts the WIP podcast, a discussion-based project that has thus far featured Joe Nice and Om Unit as guests, and promises to explore the subconscious underpinnings of the electronic music scene with unprecedented depth.
Emalkay
One of dubstep’s earliest “household names,” Emalkay is still going strong and true. Today, the artist possesses a refreshed vision for his high energy-low frequency signature sound. The DJ recently launched his EMX mix series, meant to spotlight his favorite gems to rise from the ever-expanding bass music landscape - and highlight the relevance of DJs as curators in the current scene.
